It had been a long morning on the boat and nothing really exciting had been seen. I mean come on, we came to see Turtles, Eagle Rays and Moray Eel for goodness sakes. While moving to our next dive site a group of divers on the other side of the boat were talking about all the great things they had seen and how great the diving was. Had I missed something? Was I on the right boat? I was in the same dive group they were and I didn’t see anything that was so exciting. Being the shy person I am, I went over and introduced myself and asked, where were all these wonderful creatures. EVERYWHERE they replied!
Now came the lesson…. One of the more salty divers of the group shared a bit of information that changed my diving habits for life. He said. You’ll either be in the right place and time when the big creatures come by or you wont. But it’s the little creatures that make the sport of scuba a real adventure. Slow down and see the world around you. Scuba diving is meant to be a relaxing sport. To many time we fin our way along the reef missing everything around us.
You go on vacations to jump off the freeway of life and what do we do? Take a giant stride in and motor off as if we can’t get to the end of the dive. Slow down and enjoy a real adventure next time you go diving. The big creatures will be there or they wont. But the little creatures are always there waiting to be discovered.
Funny thing happened to me while I was editing the video. My wife came up behind me and asked where the video had been taken, I’ve never seen any of this. I said Bonaire, you were my dive buddy.
Hope you enjoyed the video.
